一、培养目标

本专业旨在培养德才兼备、具有坚实的英语语言基础知识和跨文化交际能力、良好的英汉双语运用能力、掌握扎实的翻译知识和技巧,能胜任科技、国际商务、外事、教育、传媒、法律、国际文化交流等领域口笔译工作的应用型专门人才。

Ⅰ. Educational Objectives

The specialty of Translation and Interpreting is intended to cultivate high-caliber professional translators and interpreters that excel in both moral integrity and professional ability. Graduates in the specialty are credited with proficient English language skills and strong cross-cultural communicative competence. They ought to have a good command of basic knowledge and techniques concerning translationand interpreting and are supposed to be qualified for translation and interpreting tasks in such fields as diplomacy, business, education, mass media, law and internationalcultural and scientific and technological exchanges.

二、毕业要求

本专业学生在培养过程中,强调对学生进行基本理论、基础知识、基本能力(技能)以及健全人格、综合素质和创新精神的培养;致力于为学生全面参与教学改革,科学研究及社会服务等活动创造条件,提倡学生在参与中发现并培养自己的兴趣和能力,最大限度地发展学生的智力和潜能,鼓励学生敢于面对挑战、不断探索、努力进取、追求卓越;并提供一定的条件,促使学生养成独立工作和团队合作的能力,促使学生养成终身学习和自主学习的习惯。

经过四年的系统学习,本专业学生在毕业时应达成以下毕业要求:

1.人文知识:掌握扎实、系统的英、汉双语基础知识及翻译学科的基本理论和基础知识;熟悉中国国情、英语国家概况及西方文化。

2.人才素质:具有扎实的汉、英语言功底,熟悉中西文化差异;掌握英汉口译和笔译的基本理论知识和技巧;具有在国际商务、外事、教育、传媒、法律、国际文化和科技交流等领域的翻译实践能力;具备作为职业译员的基本素质、良好的道德修养、调查研究能力与较强的心理承受力。

3.人才能力:具有良好的英语口头和书面表达能力,具备较强的跨文化交际能力,能胜任科技、外事、国际商务、教育、传媒、法律、文化等领域的英汉口译、笔译工作;掌握运用现代信息技术进行文献检索和资料查询的能力;具有较强的批判性思维能力、工作组织、协调、应变能力及调查研究能力。

4.职业规范:具有人文社会科学素养、社会责任感,能够在实践中理解并遵守职业道德和规范,履行责任。

5.团队协作:能够在多学科背景下的团队中承担个体、团队成员以及负责人的角色。

6.沟通:能够进行有效英语沟通和交流,包括撰写报告和设计文稿、陈述发言、清晰表达或回应指令。并具备一定的国际视野,能够在跨文化背景下进行沟通和交流。

7.终身学习:具有自主学习和终身学习的意识,有不断学习和适应发展的能力。

Graduation Requirements

During the cultivation process of the students in this major, emphasize the cultivation of basic theory, basic knowledge, basic ability (skills), healthy personality, comprehensive quality and innovation spirit; create conditions for students to fully participate in the teaching reform, scientific research and social services etc. activities; advocate students to discover and develop own interest and ability, and maximize the intelligence and potential by participation, encourage students to dare to face challenges, constantly explore, strive for progress, pursue the excellence; provide the conditions to encourage students to develop the ability of work independently and team work, help students form the habit of lifelong learning and autonomous learning.

After four years of systematic study, the graduates in this major should acquire the following knowledge and abilities:

1.Knowledge:a mastery of basic knowledge of English and Chinese an understanding of major theories and fundamental knowledge of the translation and interpreting discipline, and familiarity with the national conditions of China and major English speaking countries and with western culture.

2.Qualities:high proficiency in both English and Chinese; familiarity with China-western cultural differences; command of basic theoreticknowledge and skills concerning English-Chinese translation and interpreting; practicalability to handle translation and interpreting tasks in such fields as diplomacy, business, education, mass media, law and internationalcultural and scientific and technological exchanges; essentialqualities for professional interpreters and translators, sound moral integrity, and capability of doing research work and withstanding mental pressure.

3.Abilities:sound ability for both oral and written expression in English; high capability of translating and interpreting materials regarding diplomacy, business, education, mass media, law, culture, science, technology, etc.; skills for using modern informationtechnology to acquire desired information; and reasonable ability for critical thinking, professional work and academic research.

4.Professional norms:Possess the humanities and social science literacy and social responsibility, understand and comply with the professional ethics and norms in the practic and fulfill the responsibility.

5.Team work:Undertake the role of individual, team members and the head in the team of multidisciplinary background.

6.Communication:Effectively communicate with English speakers and the social public communication, including writing reports and design documents, presentation speech, clear expression or respond to commands. Have a certain international vision, and be able to communicate under the cross-cultural background.

7.Lifelong learning:Possess the consciousness of independent learning and lifelong learning, and the ability to constantly learn and adapt to the development.

三、专业培养特色

本专业培养应用型汉英翻译专门人才,以培养英语运用能力和汉英翻译实践能力为核心,采用先进的教育教学理念和手段,着重培养学生在科技领域工作所需要的较强的英汉口译、笔译技能,同时也能承担外事、国际商务、教育、传媒、法律等领域的英汉口译、笔译任务,注重培养学生的跨文化交际能力、自主调查研究能力工作环境适应能力。

This specialty is geared to cultivating high-caliber professional Chinese-English translators and interpreters, focusing on development in students of ability to use the English languageproficiently and to handle Chinese-English translation and interpreting tasks efficiently. Advanced educational and pedagogical ideas and means are adopted to foster students’ translation and interpreting skills in such fields as science & technology, diplomacy, business, education, mass media, law and culture, Importance is attached to the cultivation of competence for cross-cultural communication, and ability to conduct independent research and adjust to new work environment.

六、毕业学分要求

课内总学分不低于159.5学分,实践教学环节学分不少于35.5学分。
