Lecture Synopsis:
Nowadays, university education, whether in the natural sciences, social sciences, or the humanities, is inseparable from the cultivation of liberal arts, especially the reading of classics of humanities. That is because classics are both the crystallization and the source of ideas; they are both the memory of the past and the portrayal of the present. It is only when the past is fabled in contemporary reality that it has meaning, that it can lead to the future, and that it can provide materials and imagination for science. Therefore, in the case of education oriented to the integration of general and professional education, reading is the way, thinking is the purpose, and cultivating the holistic person is the goal.
