On November 29, 2019, we invited Professor CHEN Yongguo, the doctoral supervisor of Tsinghua University and the NSSFC Assessor, to provide guidance for teachers who plan to apply for 2020 NSSFC project in the fields of foreign literature and translation. Professor CHEN has outstanding academic achievements and rich experience in project application.

Professor CHEN gave detailed comments on all teachers’ declarations, which mainly include the following four points. First, Professor CHEN gave specific advice on entitling their research projects. He pointed that the titles should come straight to the point, including research questions. Second, the opening paragraph, which is of great importance, should clearly put forward the research question and discuss the topic with the research question being the guide. Third, existing research results in this field should be described separately. Last but not least, each paragraph should not be too short and scattered.

After that, the attending teachers consulted Professor CHEN about their confusion in the application. Professor CHEN patiently gave them earnest answers.
