On December 6, 2019, we invited ZHONG Shuneng, the professor of South China University of Technology and the NSSFC Assessor, to provide guidance for teachers who plan to apply for 2020 NSSFC project in the field of translation and linguistics.
Based on his rich experience in academic research, Professor ZHONG gave important advice on the project application. His explanation was simple but witty and illuminating. Professor ZHONG first explained some regular questions and skills in the project application, and he pointed out the importance of the overall framework and proposal. While he indicated that applicants should be equipped with three qualities, namely high IQ, high EQ and high SQ. Then, he analyzed the key points of the declaration from the perspective of assessors, and reminded the applicants to pay attention to the beginning part, the part showing the early research results, logical structure and other important aspects. Finally, Professor ZHONG showed and commented some excellent cases and failed cases to make the participants better understand how to use the skills.
At the end of the meeting, Professor ZHONG made detailed comments on each teacher's declaration, patiently answered the teachers' questions, and put forward many significant suggestions for revision.
The meeting came to a successful conclusion. All teachers expressed that they had benefited and learned a lot. They indicated that they would actively participate in the application of NSSFC project in 2020, make persistent efforts and strive for good results.
