On the morning of January 15,   2020, GDUT president QIU Xueqing visited our school for investigation and   guidance, along with him are leaders from the school’s Party and Government   Office, Development Planning Office, Academic Affairs Office, Science and   Humanities Research Institute, Graduate School, Personnel Office, Laboratory   and Equipment Management Office and other relevant departments. Our school leaders   participated in the forum presided over by LIU Wei, the secretary of the   party committee.

Our school dean Prof. CAI   Rongshou introduced the school's general situation, talent training, faculty,   discipline construction and academic research. He mainly reported the   school's characteristic practices and achievements in improving the passing   rate of CET-4, CET-6, TEM4 and TEM8, the enrollment and employment rate, the   development plans and measures, master's degree program and specialty construction,   and talent training.

President QIU acknowledged our school’s   efforts. On behalf of GDUT, he thanked our contributions to GDUT's talent   training and put forward specific requirements and hopes for the next step of   our school's work. First, we must put talent training in the first place,   improve several key indicators such as the passing rate of students' CET-4   and CET-6 and the rate of going further study, and create a good academic   atmosphere. Secondly, we should focus on discipline construction, make   reforms around teaching objectives and create our own characteristics with   GDUT’s engineering advantages, so as to improve competitiveness and seek   breakthroughs in discipline construction. Thirdly, we should further strengthen   team construction, teaching quality, academic research quality, and stimulate   the vitality of the teachers.

Leaders of GDUT who attended this   seminar had a conversation with our school’s teachers. They discussed some   challenges and problems that we experienced and gave us some suggestions of how   to cope with them.
